Is everything sidechained or is that bass slamming the master compressor?

Musically, it's pretty good. All the elements work well together. It flows are one piece, not just a scattered mess, that's always a good sign LoL.

But I would definitely take some time to EQ the low end a bit more. =)

Actually It was my attempt to make a different sounding percussive beat. Overall I would say that it was somewhat a failure as many have said it just sounds like an over driven bass. Thanks for the input

Was worth the experiment! Failure has taught me quite a lot. Keep trying new things, though, don't ever let it discourage you!

It sounds like it's over compressed or limited, and it pretty much kills the whole vibe :(

I would shorten the release time on your compressor and turn the threshold up a bit. The kick could sound fuller too. Other than that it's a pretty cool track, could use some chordal stabs in the background to make it sound a bit fuller too.

Like everyone else, it almost sounds like extremely heavy side chaining. I think that the musical qualities of the piece are there though, because I can tell that they go well together. I think that's a synth you have that's almost snappy, bass slap sounding and it's really cool how it's underneath the other tracks. It just sounds like the whole track is going in and out though.

For those that are interested, This was based on a piece that was originally only done in Classical Instrument Samples. The voltage Mixes are all synth based vs classical intrument based.
