No, it's actually the opposite, it's not that we are more sceptic, it's that the scene is degenerating. The recent evolution for technology has made sure that pretty much everyone can pick up music production, and that is a marvelous thing, except that the audience are too stupid to recognize quality and hype everything with a decent level of high pitch lazers and bouncey melodies. People like wonkap and even eptic to be honest, do not deserve to be famous (yet). My friends keep asking me why i don't get signed, and i always answer "because my music is not good enough". Nowadays we have a generation of teenagers that step to a label as soon as they discovered what the performer in massive does. And the label accepting them because they are also oblivious teens or they know the oblivious teens love that kinda music, but frankly, it annous me.

I've pretty much stopped listening to EDM as a whole, just because i find it so damn hard to find good music. Not even kidding, i'm back to non-electronics. (still make edm though) it's just annoying for people who actually do want a certain level of professionalism.

As for DJing, i'm pretty much against that so i wouldn't even participate in that convo.

I can't dissagree. And I respect the fact that you take lots & lots of time to fine tune your work. I respect that, even from a non-producer point-of-view. I guess most of the people here are part of the generation who can pick up production (which isn't a bad thing), but think they can become #1 on Beatport the next week. It's indeed quite sad that the bar has been lowered, and that people race against eachother for 'youngest producer/dj/whatever'. And it actually works... There are times that I randomly browse the interwebs, and a new prodigy has landed on the scene. Who or whats to blame? I don't know. Might it be modern technology, social networking, the ease of setting up stuff? Look how many tiny labels there are.
It's hard to make a firm point of view. Refering to those small labels again, these aren't bad either... They want to show the world that some truly talented people are right here, but have close to no recognition. There are people on soundcloud who do a way better job than #1 Producer (not my words) David Guetta.

I also would rather work years & years on making my own sound, refining my skills & enjoy the progress. But seems like we're the 1%...

This is running out of hand, and could actually deserve it's own discussions thread.

That's exactly right, but that's another problem: this whole hype of easy produced "filth" is so overwelming that true talent has a really hard time getting noticed. I follow people on soundcloud with less followers than me thinking "how is that dude not world famous yet".

I for one, can't wait for this hype to blow over.

... The masses will always be stupid and never understand true quality because they never devoted themselves to the sound. It's not about the music for them, it's about the energy... Or the experience.

For us it's all about the sound most of the time, and for us everything has value... They probably will never understand just how amazing Deadmau5's Fn Pig/Get in the October cart pig synth is... They just think it sounds cool. I think it's mindblowing and an awesome mystery that I'd love for someone to spoil for me.

They don't care as much as we do :/ ... I wish everyone would be at least at my level, which isn't very high... So that they could appreciate music... Not DJ Pauly D.

Everyone has their own taste in music Rmon and you'll just have to deal with it. When you start talking like this it just makes me think of this video

Well @DAST I thought about that... But he's been told that so many times I'm pretty sure he doesn't care. For him it's about more than taste in music. I believe for him it's more about the quality and the work that's being put into the music... Which is very little but the people still eat it up... Like it doesn't matter.

Maybe it doesn't. :/

I always say If it's so easy, why don't you just go become popular?
It's all jealousy and I get it, you don't see that these guys have some talent.
But if it is so easy to make some bouncey filthy tracks, make a few just for fun and see if you blow up.

Nobody said it was easy, and I personally don't really care about getting popular, I just do this because I think it's fun.

They do have talent, but am I not allowed to see some value in what Rmonik is saying? We're entitled to getting a little pissy as much as anyone's entitled to their opinion.

Challenge accepted. When i get back home, i wIll make a bouncey track and i will get it up on some famous dubstep channel. Just watch me.

I might use a different name though, because last time i made a filthy track people following me were all like "dayum u changed brah" when i started making more interesting music.

Same goes in a different direction though DAST, people that like bouncey stuff are against skrillex claiming that his stuff is so easy to make, when really, wonkap and the likes have about the musical knowledge of a strawberry compared to Skrilly.
