I have a question about that. Isn't it normal for guitars to be multi-tracked and hard panned in metal? Or are you referring to the cleaner guitar tone?

Quite often yes, but mostly with lead guitar, it doesn't always work with heavy bass tones, especially not THAT far apart and sometimes not when the mix isn't already overloaded with other instruments, drums, cymbals, ... I would have left that one mono, to be honest. It's also too loud in that part, now that i think about it.

I think the guitars are a lot too loud and muddy-ing up everything, I'm not really into any of these genres so i don't know too much about it but I think at some points the drum need too punch trough more, I can barely hear them..

I felt that the drums got a bit lost in the mix, maybe some sidechaining and make the kick more powerful ;)
My friend around the corner owns/produces for a trance label, gonna ask his opinion

What you have here is two very good things. Unfortunately (to me) thy just don't mix well.

Whether this is because of the mix down I don't know but the guitar just overpowers everything else and it sounds messy.

Still, I can hear two very good things in there, keep up the great work dave!

I think there's a little too much going on during the breakout. Especially with the guitar and the arps, the sounds kind of drown each other out and it's hard to tell what's going on. The build ups etc. are really well produced, love the noise sweeps. The trancey melodies gave me a headache, but that's just my personal taste.

Cheers for all the thoughts guys!

Mixing heavy guitar with mid-heavy lead synths is a nightmare; cut too much guitar and there's no power. Not enough and there's no synth. I just need more practice, at least now I have a reference point for what a lot of people consider "too much guitar" now, although my ear hears both the lead and the guitar just fine (I have a similar problem with vocals, I have to push them up 2-3dB from where I think they fit to get them where everyone else thinks they fit)

I agree listening back that the drums are kinda lost in the drop as well.

I'm glad at least musically most of you guys dig it though! I intend to do more EDM/Metal crossovers, it's something I frickin' love doing.

Haha "too much guitar" - That's my exact problem on every track I make....

I dunno, maybe my ear isn't that great, but I didn't notice anything that stuck out. If sounds full and busy, but that's what I'd expect from this mix of genres. /shrug

I friggn' loved it, though.
