Subtractor Waveform 14.

Tell us how you got that killer synth effect, why you love your sequencer of choice or that you are sick of hearing the same lame preset every time you load up malstrom ¬_¬

Ey guys,

I've been working on an incredibly dirty bassline recently and was wondering, what actually is Subtractor's Waveform 14? Can it be recreated in other synths or is it a special feature of Subtractor? Cuz, it sounds really neat :)

a waveform is just a squiggly line, representing a sine wave and some of the harmonics (with 2, 3, 4, ... times the frequency of the root). It can be sampled and used like that.

Record that single osc playing and look at the waveform and you'll see what it looks like :)

Hey guys,

I checked the waveform and compared it to a normal sine, just so you can see how my software visualizes waveforms. Here it is:

It actually doesn't look very similar to other waveforms, it also seems to change as it progresses. So, I guess it's a feature that can only be found within Subtractor. I used it in my synth because it seems to add a very awesome top-layer to the bassline.

Anyways, thanks for the help :)

just sample on wave cycle. Make sure you do a clean edit though, from a 0 point to another 0 point. Load it up in a sampler and loop it.

What I do and think is the easiest way is just sample it in the NNXT, then open up the "edit sample" :)

Sample one note, cut out a waveform cycle, put it in an nnxt and make the plaing mode "forward-loop". You have succesfully recreated the waveform. Naturally you can bounce that waveform and use it in another sampler in another DAW.

Also, the fact that i can count the bits in that cycle makes me stand by my point: reason's analog sounds are horrible :'D
