bass drops are basically sine waves with a pitch envelope. the envelope gives a light kick effect, here's an example:

if you use reason, thor, assign the adsr envelope to osc1 pitch. you can map velocity too.

are you talking about the main bass? ahah that a quite mystery.

I don't know, the close that I got in my experiments was this: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/26795768/untitled.wav
- bassie male vocals, pitched down (used reapitch, with time preserving)
- mda dubdelay with this settings:

- camelcrusher, annihilate patch, distortion off.

Apparently Skrillex makes his basses by recording screamo and putting it through a vocoder but think about it, If anyone knew exactly how to do then surely they'd be as well known as Skrillex and would be earning money from using it in there own productions.

one thing is sure, he uses the same formula all the time..
I was kinda obsessed about this issue. I really think that the main bass is made out from tweaked vocals... chopped, reversed, carefully placed along with the beat, and not from a synth.
I've tried many possibilities, massive too, including that moderntalking thing, the synced lfo feature... I think that works better for the higher leads.

money along with a skrillex 'copycat' tag ahah ... but it's worth to try. you'll never know :)

Production quality!! Get your mix perfect and there is always a chance that something might take off but remember to be original as a copycat you'll get nowhere.
If people want Skrillex style, they'll always go for Skrillex over the other producer that has just copied him.

Maybe my argument about the money wasn't very good. It is very hard to earn any sort of good money from selling your music. Especially in this genre. Having your tunes known by the masses will just open the route to earning money by playing live and other things.

I'd love to be proved wrong but I'm very doubtful that you've got it spot on (in the nicest possible way).
