I can't see the big problem here.
I like music with alot of focus on the low frequency spectrum. Some people have now taken some inspiration from that music and developed in new ways. It's just a natural progression of things.
Dark garage, probably was crap to the garage scene back then, just like the situation today, where the Dubstep is crap to the "original" bassheads.
I don't think that a genre can ever die out entirely, because there will always be someone sitting around making Kraftwerk-esque music and people wont stop making grunge either.
But I think you're right when you say that there is a very large range of artist that rush to some sort of fame, just because they know a little bit about automations.
Imo. I think this bassmusic thing is meant to be about synth acrobatics, and large atmospheres. But if someone out there would like it to be about the sick basslines, and agressive stunts, then let it be that.
The world is a big place, and I would be very supprised if there would be enough space for all of us
