[Facebook] Essential Apps for Fan Pages

Facebook provides a powerful marketing platform for musicians to promote their songs, albums and connect with fans in real time.
Here's a list of the essential applications.

Pimp your Facebook fan page, for free


1. Welcome/Landing Page



Create a friendly welcome/landing page, to pick up people's attention and get more Likes.
App: Static HTML.
How-to: Create a graphic banner, host it at imgur or tinypic, add custom HTML code. Add a Facebook Like Box bellow.
Set it as default landing page: 1. Edit Page / 2. Manage Permissions / 3. Default Landing Tab



2. Music Player



Add a music player to your page.
Apps: RootMusic Bandpage or Reverbnation Player.
Options: Both are very customizable, have options such as: "Like" the Page to stream this track for free.
RootMusic player can be synced with Soundcloud, pulls the tracks with no need to re-upload.
It's possible do add Buy/Download links. Can be setup as default landing page as well.



3. Gigs



Manage your tour dates and keep your fans updated.
Apps: Bandsintown or RootMusic Bandpage.



4. Twitter



Twitter timeline on your facebook page.
App: Tweets to Pages.



5. Videos



Showcase videos from YouTube/Vimeo based on your YouTube/Vimeo channel, favorites, or playlists.
Apps: Youtube for Pages or Youtube Video Box or Vimeo Box Tab.



6. Live Video Stream



Broadcast your live video on Facebook. Easily add the player to your fan page to interact with your friends or fans live.
Apps: Ustream Live or Stickam.



7. Free Downloads



Keep track of your downloads.
Apps: Bandcamp or Static HTML.
Options: Bandcamp allows you to create a fan mailing list, just check the "require email address" box on every free track.
How-to: Create a graphic banner, host it at imgur or tinypic, add custom HTML code.
Keep the download link between the <fb:visible-to-connection></fb:visible-to-connection> tags. It will be visible to fans only.
You can add a Facebook Like Box.



8. Merchandise



Create and sell your own merchandise.
Apps: Spreadshirt Shop, Big Cartel Store or Static HTML.
How-to: Customize shirts at Spreadshirt (USA)/(EU), Shirtcity, or, print them yourself and sell them at Big Cartel.
Use custom HTML code, or install the app (if available).
Options: Both Spreadshirt and Bigcartel have Facebook shopping carts.
