I want to DJ....

Postby RodStar » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:31 pm

Could you kind people of the music world help me in my quest for getting very good dj equipment?
I am a complete n00b to it btw. I'm not interested in doing it the vinyl way but more the MP3 way. I want to start it off as a hobby and then see where it goes from there. My budget is between £1000-1500. So can people recommend Decks, Mixers, Headphones etc please?
Thanks guys!

BAHAHAHAHA.

Ontopic now, there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to DJ'ing. There is:

vinyl: 2 turntables, mixer, headphones, a lot of vinyls
CDJ: 2 CD-players with cue, mixer, headphones, some empty CDs you can burn your music to.
MP3J: 1 laptop, 1 dj controller, DJ software, headphones
timecode vinyl: 2 turntables, soundcard with 4 ins and 4 outs, DJ software, mixer/controller, headphones
Ableton DJ: Go wild.

It seems like the "mac book + control table" theme is becoming quite popular for modern DJ's and performers.

I'm not sure if it was propellerhead or some other youtube channel that interviewed artists on tour asking, "What's in
your bag?" and most of them, seriously, just had a macbook and a few other gadgets. =|
Why live life if your not ('having fun' was here) TOTALLY EUPHORIC XD, all the time?

macs have less latency than pcs?? why?
laptop and controller are cool for home djing and playing with familiar equipment. but on live performances, laptop = to double worries imo. get a internal ssd hard drive. better performance and its handles better with vibration and shocks.

some djs&producers never play with laptop.

in 2030, more djs, more raves, more molly. more work for doctors. medical degree here I come.

Because of the audio engine. PC's need asio driver and shit to minimize the latency.
